Tax, AI & Professional Services Disclaimer

eScripts organises your records and produces working estimates. It does not replace SARS, a tax practitioner or your own review.

Last updated 30 August 2026

1. eScripts is software, not SARS

eScripts helps you organise records and see how ready you are for a tax year. It is not SARS, it is not affiliated with SARS, and nothing it produces is a SARS assessment, ruling or confirmation. Any tax figure shown in the app is a working estimate based only on the information you captured.

2. AI, OCR and automated suggestions can be wrong

The eScripts Assistant, document intelligence, receipt scanning, bank statement parsing, tracker imports and category suggestions are assistive tools. They may misread a document, miss a line, duplicate an entry or suggest the wrong classification.

Every extracted value and suggestion is presented for your review. You must check it before relying on it or submitting anything to SARS.

3. No guarantee of outcomes

eScripts does not guarantee that:

  • an expense you record is tax deductible;
  • a trip you log qualifies as business travel;
  • you will receive a refund or a particular tax result;
  • SARS will accept a document, logbook or piece of evidence; or
  • a readiness score means your return is complete or correct.

GPS, tracker and location evidence records where a vehicle went; it does not by itself prove the business purpose of a trip. Bank credits and debits stay evidence until you classify them.

4. General information is not personalised advice

Explanations, help content, reminders and Assistant answers are general information about how the platform and South African tax concepts work. They are not personalised tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and they do not take your full circumstances into account. Speak to a suitably qualified professional before making decisions.

5. Professional services and registered practitioners

Professional services are separate from the software subscription and only begin once scope, fee and mandate have been agreed and accepted. Where the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011 and SARS requirements apply — including where a natural person provides tax advice or completes or assists with a return for consideration — that work will be performed by a person registered with SARS and a Recognised Controlling Body as required. Using the software does not by itself create a practitioner-client relationship.

6. You remain responsible

Unless a separate signed professional engagement says otherwise, you remain responsible for:

  • meeting SARS filing and payment deadlines;
  • the truthfulness, accuracy and completeness of what you record and submit;
  • keeping supporting documents for the required retention periods; and
  • reviewing any return or submission before it is filed.
